Recent Custer High School graduate Mical Grace is fresh off his run in the Black Hills Playhouse’s (BHP) production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” In it he played Prince Eric, with the last performance taking place last Sunday. GLACIAL LAKES ENERGY DONATES $50,000 TOWARDS BAIRD SLEDDING HILL PROJECT
This year’s Leadership Aberdeen class has been raising funds for the past several months to purchase a snow maker machine and snow groomer to make Baird Hill a safer, more usable sledding hill for families to use throughout the winter months. Last week the class took a big step forward in fundraising for this project to happen this winter season with a $50,000 donation from Glacial Lakes Energy.

Husker football commit earns fourth recruiting star
A Nebraska football commit has earned a fourth recruiting star. Shawn Hammerbeck is a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive lineman for Winner High School in Winner, SD. Hammerbeck earned his extra star from the recruiting service 247Sports. The remaining recruiting services rate South Dakota’s top 2025 prospect three stars. Reports suggest the Huskers may play the recruit on the offensive line as a tackle, although he has been identified as a possible candidate on the defensive line. Hammerbeck selected the Huskers over Kansas State, Minnesota, and Texas Tech. Nebraska first offered the recruit in the spring and hosted him on an official visit in April. He returned on an official visit in June before committing to the Cornhuskers on July 3rd. Ambulance site getting prepped while supporters have their backs
Work is progressing on the site of the future Hill City Ambulance building. People driving by the site this week may have noticed some large machinery, including a Cat 320 excavator with a drill head on it, a Cat 316 with a modified rock breaker on it and a Cat 279 skid loader.
Upcoming Interagency Moon Walk: Explore the Dark Skies at Jewel Cave
The Black Hills National Forest is teaming up with the National Park Service to host a Moon Walk on Saturday, July 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Jewel Cave National Monument. Jewel Cave National Monument is home to some of the darkest skies in the Black Hills. Although a day-use site with incredible cave tours and engaging interpretive programs, the Monument also provides some evening “scenery” that is not often witnessed by visitors.

U8 Squad Fourth At State Tourney
Britton took its U8 Junior Jacks baseball team to the state tournament in Madison for the first time last weekend and came home with a fourth place trophy. A total of 30 teams all competed in one class and after pool play were divided into three different brackets. Britton beat Avengers Blue from Mitchell in the first round of pool play 11-0, and then dropped decisions to the West Central Rebels 11-4 and the Brandon Valley Black Sox 11-0 in pool play games to earn a spot in the White Bracket.
