Dozens of seniors seeing health benefits from line dancing classes
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Dozens of seniors are seeing health benefits by taking line dancing classes weekly. Oak Street Health’s Rickwood Field Center hosts line dancing classes every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The classes are led by Tracy Williams. She said the group of dancers are not ordinary seniors! She said many of them have lost weight, lowered their cholesterol and have seen their A1C numbers come down. The group has also helped build community.

Susan Norris is a peer helping teacher at Hoover High School. Peer helpers are students trained to tutor and mentor other students and help resolve student disputes. A: I graduated from Auburn University in 1994, so I’ve been teaching in some fashion on and off since then. My degree is in chemistry and math.
