Grammy winner appearing at Princess Theatre
DECATUR — Ashley McBryde is bringing her music mixture of rock, bluegrass, country pop and country rock to North Alabama. The Princess Theatre in Decatur announced that the Arkansas-born singer will appear Nov. 8 at the art-deco building that opened as a livery stable in 1887 before re-purposed in 1919 into a silent film and vaudeville playhouse.
New Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market Proposed for Growing Tuscaloosa Area
A fast-growing area of Tuscaloosa will soon be home to a new Walmart Neighborhood Market, about a decade after one was first proposed there. At their Tuesday night meeting, the Tuscaloosa City Council voted to annex and rezone around 2 acres of undeveloped land at 8600 Highway 69 South in Hillcrest for a new grocery store and fuel station.

The Birmingham City Council on Tuesday passed a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza after months of lobbying from local pro-Palestinian groups.
