PARSIPPANY, NJ - At the July 25th Parsipany Board of Education Meeting, the subject of a lack of communication was a central topic of discussion as the Board of Ed spoke out again on the lack of response from the Township Administration regarding impending issues affecting the school district.

Board of Education President Andy Choffo shared that both he and the BOE administration have sent meeting requests to the Mayor to which there has been no response.

Board member Sheethal Abraham echoed similar sentiments regarding communication with the Township administration.  She said it has been two months since the last meeting with the Mayor and despite sending a certified letter to his office, there has been no response. "There is much to discuss, including capital projects, shared services and the Chinese exchange program" stated Abraham.

Mr. Choffo then announced that the Board of Education decided to form an Ad Hoc committee that met on July 17th, to discuss potential solutions regarding PILOT revenue sharing, expanding shared services and how the BOE and local government can work better together to serve the town. On this committee is Board of Education President Andy Choffo, Vice President Susy Golderer, Michelle Shappell, Allison Cogan, Robin Tedesco, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Sutter.

"The PILOT issues have not gone away.  The BOE has been silent because we were making headway with the Township.  That is not the case now, so we will need to ramp up our communications so that the public is aware of what is going on", Choffo stated.

Also at the meeting, the Board voted to temporarily suspend the District’s policy capping the number of students in classrooms from grades 1 to 5 for the 2024-25 school year.
