According to reports, both the Yankees and Red Sox have checked in on Cubs starter Jameson Taillon, who spent two years in the Bronx before signing a long-term deal with Chicago two years ago. Taillon currently has two years remaining on his contract after this season, and so will likely require a decently high prospect cost — if the Cubs do indeed decide to sell, which is no guarantee.

We have been talking about Tom Thibodeau and his impending extension for months on end... and it’s starting to look like the announcement of the pact is imminent. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, in the latest edition of his newsletter, published on July 21, that announcement will happen “in the near future.”

New York City’s Restaurant Week kicks off July 22 for its summer edition and there’s a substantial increase of Brooklyn representation this year. As usual, the “week” actually lasts multiple weeks, beginning this Monday, July 22, and lasting until Sunday, August 18. This year there are 57 participating restaurants (many of which have received Michelin shoutouts), up from the 44 from 2023. While there are several new entrants (including Williamsburg’s Mesiba and Greenpoint’s Lingo), a few past participants — like Harlem Shake and Greenpoint’s MáLà Project — have opted to not return.

Shootings Near Clinton Hill Migrant Shelter Leave 2 Dead, 1 Injured
Two men died and a third man is in critical condition after a pair of shootings Sunday night near the emergency migrant shelter in Clinton Hill, according to the New York Post. A man in his 30s was shot in the chest and arm around 10:44pm in a park near Flushing Avenue and Steuben Street near the Brooklyn Navy Yard, according to police sources. Less than 10 minutes later, two men were shot outside of the Ryerson migrant shelter, police said. A 47-year-old man was fatally shot in the head, while another man in his 30s, was in critical condition after being shot multiple times. Read more about it at the New York Post.
City to start $2M e-bike trade-in program for delivery workers

Services for the UnderServed and Bronx Pro Group recently celebrated the groundbreaking for phase two of Starhill, an affordable housing project at 1600 Grand Avenue in Morris Heights, The Bronx. The project will add 244 affordable apartments to the property, with 74 of which designated as supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals and families. On-site supportive care services will be provided by Services for the UnderServed. The project was designed by Marvel Architects.
