Community invited to Wolfeboro Paintings for a Purpose art show reception Aug. 1
WOLFEBORO — Local watercolor artist Dr. Marc Bard will continue his Paintings for a Purpose Art Show with an August display at the Meredith Village Savings Bank Wolfeboro Office at 66 North Main St. The show will begin with an opening reception at the bank 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, and artwork will be showcased at the office throughout the month.

Maine man dies when motorcycle crashes into trailer
SANDWICH, N.H. — A man from Sanford is dead after a crash in the town of Sandwich, New Hampshire. The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says Phillip Bolz, 28, was headed south on Route 113 Friday afternoon when he suddenly slammed on his brakes at the intersection with Route 113A, locking his rear tire. Police say that sent his motorcycle into a skid, ending up in oncoming traffic where he hit a trailer being hauled by a pickup truck.
York residents file suit to stop AT&T’s water tank antenna project: Here's why
YORK, Maine — York Heights neighborhood residents are taking their appeal of a recently approved cellular facility to the superior court. Janet Drew of Avon Avenue and Linda Molda of Camden Avenue have been fighting the installation of six-panel antennas by AT&T on top of a nearby water tower at 5 Roots Rock Road since the project first went before the town Planning Board last year. They unsuccessfully appealed the project’s approval with the town Board of Appeals in the spring. Now, they are appealing that decision in York County Superior Court.

Transitioning to renewable energy or committing to significant energy efficiency improvements requires major investments of time and capital for a business. It helps to have a trusted advisor to navigate the process. In October 2023, USDA Rural Development in Maine announced three grants to help provide that kind of trusted advising in Maine. The program is called REAP TAG, and Sustaine (with a Maine office in Skowhegan) secured one of the grants.
