Big dogs at the Pasadena Humane Society are looking for forever homes – and for the next couple weeks, you can take one home for free.

The humane society is waiving adoption fees for dogs 40 pounds or more through July 25. Kevin McManus told KNX News’ Karen Adams that shelters are primarily filled with big dogs because of space issues and limits on pet size in apartments.

“The good thing about some big dogs is they’re actually lower energy level,” he said. “We have a couple of dogs who are a little bit older who, you know, are probably going to be fine if they're left alone for, you know, an eight-hour, nine-hour day.”

McManus said they have about 85 to 90 dogs in search of homes. If you can’t adopt, they need people to foster, too.
