Are you, or someone you know, neurodivergent, and wary of going to live performances because of the possibility of verbal or physical outbursts, or getting overstimulated? That's what LA writer-producer Mike Rotman said he kept hearing from friends who were comedy fans. So he and fellow comedy pro Rob Kutner, along with friends at The Miracle Project and Autism in Entertainment , approached Jamie Masada, at Hollywood's historic Laugh Factory, with a unique pitch:

What if we put on a regular, adult standup comedy show, established comedians just doing their regular sets... BUT prepped them not to react or do teasing "crowdwork" around any individuals in the crowd acting... non-neurotypically?

Masada, for whom Rotman and Kutner had previously produced the sold-out Israel charity benefit "Comedy Hug" in February, agreed readily. He understood that, with a just a few slight tweaks to the venue (ex: offering a "chillout space" for the overstimulated, clear visible signage, etc) this was a show that any comedy venue could put on, easily. And that the Laugh Factory could be a pioneer in moving the comedy world toward more inclusion.

On Wednesday, September 11, Rotman, Kutner, and their allies debut the concept at the Laugh Factory's pilot show, "Let It Out." The show will feature comedians Willie Hunter, Kruger Dunn, Josh Meyrowitz, Laurie Kilmartin, Jeremiah Watson, and Erik Griffin. Dunn and Meyrowitz have comedy sets focusing on neurodivergence, but the remaining comics will do their regular comedic fare.

Tickets are available at www.bit.ly/letitoutcomedy or by calling the Laugh Factory at 323-656-1336.
