    – The Paso White Wine Project has announced the White Wine Invitational, a tasting event featuring white wines from seven of Paso Robles’ top producers. The event will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Willow Creek Wine Co., 4070 Vineyard Drive in Paso Robles.

Paso Robles’ white wines have gained recognition from leading wine critics and publications, including Wine Enthusiast, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, and Vinous. The event aims to showcase the creativity and diversity of Paso’s white wines.

“White wine is not just about Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc,” said Monochrome’s winemaker Dave McGee. “There is a much broader range of varieties, blends, and winemaking styles, and that is one of the things we offer here in Paso. I don’t think anywhere else in the world is creating such a broad, diverse, and creative range of truly excellent white wines. The upcoming White Wine Invitational will provide a great opportunity for consumers and industry personnel to experience that.”

Winemaker Ryan Pease of Paix Sur Terre works with unusual white varieties such as ugni blanc and vermentino, using a sandstone amphora and other vessels. Natalie Brown’s Rococo brand focuses primarily on chenin blanc, sourcing fruit from multiple Central Coast vineyards. Union Sacre’s winemaker Xavier Arnaudin emphasizes Alsatian-style white wines, working with traditional Alsatian varieties such as riesling, gewürztraminer, and pinot blanc. Phil LaMontagne’s IIWII brand focuses on white Rhone varieties and blends, while Anthony Yount’s Kinero winery was one of the first in Paso to focus almost exclusively on white wines. Barton Family Wines offers a diverse set of white wines, including varieties such as the Italian grape falanghina.

Admission to the White Wine Invitational is $20, with proceeds benefiting MUST! Charities. Attendance is limited. Participating wineries include Barton Family Wines, IIWII, Kinero, Monochrome, Paix Sur Terre, Rococo, and Union Sacre.
