    – The Estrella Warbirds Museum will host Southwest Airlines flight attendant Alex McGill as the August monthly dinner speaker.

We have all placed ourselves in the care of flight crews from time to time, and we have heard from many pilots about their responsibilities. This month it is an opportunity for attendees to learn about an integral component of the flight crew, the flight attendant.

Alex McGill is going on her 5th year as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. She graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism and immediately jumped into a flight attendant position at legacy Virgin America. After a few short years away from the aviation industry she realized that she didn’t want to “work for a living” so she returned to the airlines and is now what they call a “lifer.”

She has experienced commuting, crash pads, flying through a pandemic, and the Boeing 737 Max aircraft grounding. From beachfront resorts in Hawaii to medical emergencies at 35,000 feet, she has truly experienced a career where no two days are the same. When she is not flying with the airline, she is working toward her commercial pilot certificate and enjoys spending time with her husband and their ten chickens.

You will learn that there is a lot more to the responsibilities and training of flight attendants than you realize, and the next time you fly you will be glad you know.

The monthly dinners are catered and reservations are required no later than 6 p.m. the Monday evening prior to the dinner. The cost of the dinner is $25 per person and reservations should be made by calling (805) 296-1935 or visiting the museum website, www.ewarbirds.org. A no-host bar will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Estrella Warbirds Museum is located at 4251 Dry Creek Road in Paso Robles, California. The museum is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Call for Monday holiday hours. For general admission information, visit www.ewarbirds.org.
