The 9th annual Nursing School Review by RNcareers.org has named Cal State Long Beach’s School of Nursing as the best nursing program in California. RNCareers.org compiled its merit-based rankings by assessing over 1,700 nursing programs. Construction for Affordable Housing Project Patterson Point to Begin This Week
The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara will begin construction at 80 North Patterson Avenue in Goleta, California the week of July 22, 2024. The new development, to be called Patterson Point, is located on the East side of North Patterson Avenue adjacent to Northbound Highway 101 off-ramp. Construction is anticipated to last approximately nine months.

Homes destroyed, evacuation orders issued as pair of large fires rage in Riverside County
A pair of large brush fires are currently burning in Riverside County, one of which has prompted evacuation orders for people living near the fire zone, while the other has damaged as many as five homes.Hawarden Fire in RiversideIn Riverside, the Hawarden Fire has currently torched 520 acres, completely destroyed three homes and damaged a fourth, in a massive blaze that was reportedly ignited by fireworks. Firefighters inch closer to containment of 38,664-acre Lake Fire
Firefighters continue to make progress as they battle the 38,664-acre Lake Fire in Santa Barbara County. The fire has been burning north of Los Olivos since July 5th and remains under investigation. Over 2,055 personnel remain dispatched in the firefight with 73 percent containment having been reached this weekend. Some evacuation warnings and orders have been reduced, firefighters said. The area between the western fire perimeter and the Los Padres National Forest Fire Area Closure; and the area east of La Brea Creek and Forest Route 10N06, south of the Los Padres National Forest boundary, and north of the Sisquoc River remained under evacuation orders. The area east of Kelly Canyon, north of Sisquoc River, west of La Brea Creek and Forest Route 10N06, and south of the Los Padres National Forest remained under evacuation warnings. The following roads remain closed: Happy Canyon Road at the Forest Service Boundary; Figueroa Mountain just north of Midland School; Forest Route 10N06; and Zaca Lake Road east of Foxen Canyon Road.
