United States Representative Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel Valley) has announced a federal grant of $530,610 to support the modernization of the Paso Robles Airport. The funding, awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program, will be used to update the airport’s master plan, including revisions to the airport layout plan, spaceport plan, aeronautical survey, and sustainability efforts.

The program has invested over $1.1 billion in airport infrastructure projects across the country this year, focusing on improvements to runways, taxiways, signage, lighting, and markings.

“Improvements to Paso Robles Airport are important and impactful to our local economy, safety, and security,” Panetta said. “This federal funding will support those modernization efforts as we position the Paso Robles Airport to serve our community in Northern San Luis Obispo County well into the future. I look forward to continuing my bipartisan work in Congress to ensure that the federal government plays its part to make these types of significant investments in our local infrastructure projects in California’s 19th Congressional District.”

“The Paso Robles Airport is a key regional asset that boosts connectivity, supports military operations, and fosters economic growth to the City of Paso Robles and indeed the entire San Luis Obispo County,” Paso Robles Mayor John Hamon said, “The new master plan will direct the long-term development of the airport and aid the city in obtaining spaceport licensing. We appreciate Congressman Panetta and the FAA District Office for their help in securing the federal grant to advance both the airport and spaceport projects.”
