Air quality alert affecting 5 N.J. counties Friday
On Thursday at 11:11 p.m. an air quality alert was issued valid until Friday at 11 p.m. for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties. "The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for the following counties: Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, Union From 11 a.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday. An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards," states the National Weather Service.

A house in Wayne that sold for $999,000 tops the list of the most expensive residential real estate sales in Passaic County in the past week. In total, 51 residential real estate sales were recorded in the county during the past week, with an average price of $481,294. The average price per square foot was $302.
Family claims Passaic County school district failed to protect student from bullying
The family of a former West Milford High School student is saying the district did nothing to protect their son from bullying throughout his years at the school. The suit claims the West Milford Township School District, the board of education, former Superintendent Alex Anemone, high school Principal Matthew Strianse, assistant principals Nicholas Pollaro and John Schutte and Brian Bialkin, who is a teacher at the high school, failed to "take proper action to ensure" the student's "safety and welfare." Also named in the suit are at least five classmates who are accused of bullying.

An updated air quality alert was issued in effect until 11 p.m. for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties. "The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for the following counties: Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, Essex, and Union, Until 11 p.m. this evening, and from 11 a.m. Friday through 11 p.m. Sunday. Ground level ozone may approach or exceed unhealthy standards," states the National Weather Service.

Hawthorne Graduates at the Top of Their Class
HAWTHORNE, NJ - Both the valedictorian and the salutatorian were honored at a Passaic County breakfast in early June, along with other county students. Valedictorian, Sandy Saleh, raised in Syria and resettled in the U.S. when she was seven years old. She will be attending Montclair State University in the fall where she plans to major in biology. She hopes to pursue medicine and wants to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
