1 dead, 1 wounded in Paterson shooting
A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting on Putnam Street on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office. Police said a 19-year-old man, who was shot in the abdomen, died from his injuries. They said a 29-year-old, who was shot in the leg, is in stable condition.
17-year-old hurt in Paterson shooting on Park Avenue
Police are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old with non-fatal injuries. Officers were dispatched to the area of Park Avenue and East 24th Street at approximately 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, on a report of shots fired. Upon their arrival, police located a potential crime scene, but no victim was located.
Paterson man was allegedly dealing drugs out of Main Street bar, authorities say
Information that a man was dealing drugs out of a Main Street bar led to two arrests and seizure of heroin and cocaine, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik. Julio C. Arista, 63, and Nelson Santiago, 59, both of Paterson, were arrested on Thursday. Arista was charged with four drug offenses, including possession and distribution of cocaine. Santiago (right) was charged with heroin possession.
Man arrested in connection with Fourth of July double shooting in Paterson
A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for his role in a Fourth of July double shooting on Essex Street. Anderson Martinez, 26-years-old, of Paterson, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder; second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun; second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; second-degree certain persons not to have weapons; and second-degree aggravated assault.
Authorities seize $1 million worth of drugs in Paterson drug mill
The New Jersey State Police conducted a drug investigation and raid that yielded almost $1 million worth of drugs, authorities said. Pedro Rodriguez Avalo, 30-year-old, of Paterson, has been charged with numerous drug offenses. He was arrested on June 27 following a raid at his residence on Lily Street near North 7th Street, authorities said.
Teaneck and Paterson men charged in Paterson double shooting
A man from Teaneck and another from Paterson were arrested for their alleged roles in a shooting in Paterson, authorities said. Jazyre K. Kearney, 21, of Paterson, and Tommy Norberto, 20, of Teaneck, are charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose for their alleged involvement in the shooting that took place on May 22 on West Broadway and Matlock Street. Additionally, Norberto is charged with second-degree certain persons not to have weapons.
Paterson man wounded in Rosa Parks Boulevard shooting
A 27-year-old Paterson man was shot and wounded in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Pearl Street on Sunday night, police said. The man arrived at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson via private vehicle at approximately 11:40 p.m. He was treated for a non-fatal gunshot wound.
