Good Shepherd Offering Healthy Cooking on a Budget Class
Good Shepherd Health Care System will offer the free Healthy Cooking for Seniors on a Budget class on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Hermiston Senior Center, 255 N.E. Second St. The class is for adults 55 and over to learn simple, nutritious recipes. It goes from 2 to 4 p.m. Ingredients are provided free to all participants ahead of time; cooking hardware is not provided.

Pasco Aquatic Center gets a “wow factor”
PASCO, Wash. – The new $37.4 million Pasco Aquatic Center is approved and is now in the design and construction phase. “We expect groundbreaking to happen later this fall and in probably November or December time frame,” Executive Director of Pasco Public Facilities District Matt Watkins said. “We’re expecting to hopefully open it in April of 2026. So it’s a fairly aggressive time from groundbreaking to actual opening the facility in a little over a year.”
UPDATE: Crews control destructive Road 20 Fire; blaze injures one person
11:46 P.M. UPDATE -- Crews reportedly have a handle on the Road 20 Fire that was burning land and structures just east of Soap Lake late Tuesday. The fire has been remapped to 25 acres and residents can expected evacuations to be canceled. All residents will be allowed to return to their homes at 12:20 a.m.
