The New England cat show is coming up. Here's how you can go

You've heard of dog shows, but have you heard of cat shows?

That's right. There's a cat show coming to town. The Cat Fanciers' Association will be presenting the New England Meow Outfit (NEMO) cat show.

The show will feature 30 breeds of cats, and some locals were even invited to enter their favorite felines in the contest, so don't be surprised if you see your neighbor's cat strutting its stuff.

"Breeders will be on hand to meet spectators and help them learn about the different breeds. Over 100 cats in over 30 pedigree breeds along with household pets make this a cat-lovers dream event," The Cat Fanciers' Association said in a press release.

When is the cat show and where is it?

The show will take place on Aug. 24 and 25. It will happen at the Verve Hotel in Natick, MA. It is located at 1360 Worcester St.

What happens at the event?

The main event is the judging. Pedigreed and household pets are all judged in eight separate rings by different judges. Pedigreed cats are judged based on their breed standard, which details the “perfect” example of each breed. Household pets are judged on an individual level – their looks, personality, coat condition, and grooming.

In addition, there is cat-related market that people can shop at, a raffle will offer visitors a chance to win "everything from cat trees to jewelry to wine," and a cat-and-owner costume contest on Sunday.

Can the public attend the show?
