A new restaurant in Boston is making the city shimmer.

On Wednesday, Aug. 28, Raising Cane's hosted a grand opening for a new location in downtown Boston. What makes this different than its other locations? It's covered in gold from floor to ceiling.

The all-gold restaurant marks the company's 828th location, and it was opened on Aug. 28 as a celebration of Raising Cane's golden birthday - meaning the company turned 28 years old on the 28th.

Here's how to visit the new location.

About the golden Raising Cane's in Boston

Raising Cane's chose Boston for the golden birthday celebration because Boston knows a thing or two about gold hardware from its various national championship titles.

“Boston is very special to me and we wanted to do something fun to celebrate not only our golden birthday, but the people who make this city so great," Raising Cane's founder and owner Todd Graves said of the choice in location.

According to the press release, Raising Cane's newest Boston location is wrapped in 10,000 feet of gold vinyl car wrap, gold leaf and gold epoxy, giving the building a completely golden exterior and interior. The space is decked out with golden booths, golden counters, golden disco balls and a golden cabinet filled with exclusive merch.

What happened at the grand opening of Raising Cane's in downtown Boston?

To celebrate a golden restaurant, Raising Cane's knew they needed a celebration full of gold. The company enlisted the help of "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro to create a two-foot-tall golden cake replica of Cane III , the yellow lab who acts as the company's mascot.

Singer-songwriter JVKE, a Rhode Island native whose real name is Jacob Lawson , sang his fitting song "Golden Hour" to the crowd of 300 people at the grand opening.

And of course, no golden celebration in Boston would be complete without gold-trophy winning Boston athletes. Former Red Sox player David "Big Papi" Ortiz and current Celtics player Jrue Holiday helped open the doors to the new Boston restaurant.

“Gold is what we do here in Boston and we’re so appreciative that Todd chose Boston to open this new location. Boston is a great city and our fans are the best of the best” said Ortiz at the ceremony.

Raising Cane's will continue to celebrate their golden birthday through donating $28M to local communities this year and giving away 828 gold items worth over $100K. Prizes include golden necklaces, golden Vans shoes and real golden bars, and contest entries can be made on their website .
