A show co-created by a Massachusetts native won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series last night.

"Hacks," a comedy on Max (formerly known as HBO Max) starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder , was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series and won, beating out contenders like the popular "The Bear" and the final season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

Jen Statsky of Milton co-created "Hacks" and works as an executive producer on the Emmy-winning project. She is most known for her work on "The Good Place" and "Parks and Recreation."

Statsky has written 10 episodes of the series, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB).

Statsky stood beside her other "Hacks" showrunners, Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello, when accepting the award with the rest of the cast.

Downs delivered the majority of the acceptance speech with Aniello making a brief call to action to support comedy to the audience.

The show had 16 Emmy Award nominations this year, winning Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series , Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and, of course, Outstanding Comedy Series.

When accepting the award for outstanding writing for a comedy series, the three showrunners played a game of "Rock, Paper, Scissors" to see who would speak first to accept the award.

Downs played scissors, defeating Statsky and Aniello who both played paper.

"I guess I'll speak," Downs said. "Thank you so much. Thank you to the Academy. Thank, all of you, for clapping."

Aniello would then thank the series lead, Smart, as well as the series co-lead, Einbinder, and the show's writers.

Statsky gave quick thank you's to the assistants who worked on the show as well as others, as the trio were being played out by the Emmy Awards music, beckoning for them to leave the stage.
