    Friday night lights: South Shore high school football scores and highlights

    The high school football season is starting to heat up.

    The end of September means the rust has been shaken off at this point. It's time for teams to start making pushes for league titles and playoff positioning.

    This week there are 10 South Shore schools off, but there are plenty of intriguing matchups. BC High, Randolph, East Bridgewater, Canton, Duxbury and Weymouth are all trying to remain undefeated on the young season.

    Week 4

    Thursday, Sept. 26

    Plymouth North 19, Pembroke 12

    Gio Lynch-Ruberio ran 20 times for 174 yards and a touchdown in the Blue Eagles (2-1) win. Jake Turchinetz ran for a TD and was 9 of 13 passing for 162 yards and a TD in his first start at quarterback. He threw a 77-yard TD pass to Liam Joyce. Logan Perry had an interception. In the loss, Jayden Leonard had 4 catches for 118 yards and a 55-yard TD.

    Friday, Sept. 27

    Cathedral 18, Cardinal Spellman 7

    Gil Nabstedt had a 7-yard TD run for the Cardinals (0-3). Caleb Altidor also had an interception and blocked a PAT.

    BC High 46, Everett 7

    QB Carter Carroll (Cohasset) threw 3 TD passes -- to Brenden Ryan (31 yards), Gavin Barth (29 yards) and Conrad Babka (54 yards) -- as the Eagles (3-0) won their home opener for new coach Paul Zukauskas. Tommy O'Donnell (30-yard INT return), Jackson Richard (79-yard run) and Ryan (66-yard punt return) all added big-play touchdowns, and Taamil Cundiff capped the scoring with a 2-yard run.

    West Bridgewater 42, Dighton-Rehoboth 0

    The Wildcats improved to 2-2 as Ty Holmes turned 15 carries into 330 yards and 5 TDs. Sam Popotte added a rushing TD and Jacob Smith was 6-for-6 on PATs.

    Braintree 41, Framingham 12

    The Wamps improve to 2-2.

    Cohasset 29, Nauset 28

    In a back-and-forth battle, Gus Greene (1 rushing TD, 1 receiving TD) scored the winning TD for the Skippers (2-2) on a 5-yard run with 54 seconds remaining. Michael Wildfire ran for a pair of TDs, covering 10 and 7 yards. Will McLaughlin intercepted a pass in the end zone in the closing seconds to seal the victory. Cohasset trailed 16-0 in the second quarter.

    Randolph 43, Brighton 0

    Nate Gomes (9 carries for 127 yards), Abe Cornet (87 yards passing) and Andy Vilceron (1 rushing TD, 1 receiving TD) each accounted for two scores for the Blue Devils (3-0). Mekhi White ran 7 times for 87 yards and a score, and Kavany Noel had a receiving TD.

    East Bridgewater 36, Seekonk 26

    The Vikings (3-0) have already matched their 2023 win total. Ethan Pohl threw TD passes to Logan Williams and Dan Chelmo and ran for another. Mark Lee returned an interception for a score while Denis O'Donovan (interception) and Robbie Mavilia (fumble recovery) also forced turnovers. Aidan Clancy and Austin Dewhurst each ran for a TD.

    Hingham 33, Stoughton 3

    The Harbormen improve to 2-1 while the Black Knights fall to 0-4. In the win, Jake Varholak was 17 of 20 passing for 287 yards and 4 TDs. His favorite receivers were JT Reale (3 catches, 93 yards, 3 TDs) and Chase Beighley (9 catches, 101 yards, TD). Ryan St. Croix rushed 19 times for 78 yards and a TD.

    Lincoln-Sudbury 17, Brockton 14

    The Boxers fall to 0-3. Jarred Mighty returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score, and Luke Turco (18 carries, 149 yards) added a 4-yard TD run.

    Bishop Feehan 35, Archbishop Williams 0

    The Bishops fall to 0-3.

    Marshfield 13, Mansfield 10

    Davin True scored the winning TD with 17 seconds remaining for the Rams (3-1). Tor Maas finished 15 of 20 passing for 200 yards with a TD and interception. Jake Brilliant had 6 receptions for 104 yards and Luke Richardson had a TD catch.

    Milton 55, Holliston 28

    QB Patrick Collins threw for five TDs and ran for two scores as the Wildcats (3-1) won their third straight. Ryan Fulton caught three TD passes, covering 29, 6 and 41 yards. Collins opened the scoring with a 65-yard scoring pass to Harrison Hinckle and later connected with Ronan Sammon for a 75-yarder. Collins' rushing TDs covered 25 yards and 6 yards. Hinckle also scored on a 25-yard return of a blocked punt. Aidan Rowley kicked seven PATs. Trailing 14-7, Milton scored six straight touchdowns before Holliston struck twice in the fourth quarter.

    Bedford 35, Canton 27

    The Bulldogs (3-1) lost in overtime.

    Franklin 21, Duxbury 19

    The Panthers snapped the Dragons' (3-1) 14-game winning streak. Trevor Jones (26 yards to Ian McNeil) and Brady Rhinesmith (21 yards to Jake Falls) threw TD passes in the loss. Jack Rees added a rushing TD.

    Old Colony 26, South Shore Tech 20

    Kiano Velazquez rushed for 93 yards and a TD, and Brady Hofeman added 60 yards on the ground and a rushing TD, but the the Vikings fell to 1-2. Dillon O'Brien added a 97-yard kick return for a touchdown.

    Hull 34, Boston English 10

    The Pirates improve to 2-1 as Isaiah Green hauled in a pair of receiving TDs and returned an interception for a score. Green also had 3 QB sacks. Tristian Lofgren also had 2 TD catches as Luke Dunham threw 4 TDs. Tiegan Bellew intercepted a pass.

    North Attleboro 51, Oliver Ames 0

    The Tigers drop to 2-2.

    Tri-County (3-0) at Southeastern (0-2) - suspended in the second quarter due to electrical issue. Game will continue at later date with T-C leading 8-2 in second quarter.

    Saturday, Sept. 28

    Bridgewater-Raynham 42, Middleboro 20

    The Trojans (1-3) picked up their first win under coach Eian Bain of the season while the Sachems drop to 1-2. Jack Lambert threw 2 TD passes, one to Dylan Reed and another to Will Porter Rachel. Caleb Tripp, Mason Payton, and Owen King each had a rushing TD while Drew Bolin was 6-for-6 on PATs. The pass rush of Nick Rotondo, CJ Lopes, Collin Pauline, and Cody Baler helped B-R pitch a second-half shutout. Cam Knudsen sealed the win with a fourth-quarter interception.

    Diman 34, Blue Hills 8

    The Warriors fall to 0-3.

    Weymouth 34, New Bedford 0

    The Wildcats improve to 4-0.

    Mashpee 36, Rockland 13

    The Bulldogs fall to 0-3. Hayden Hatch was 20-for-38 passing for 2 TDs and 1 INT. Pat McDonagh (6 catches, 46 yards) and Will Carpine (6 catches, 64 yards) each hauled in a TD pass. Jax Leduc finished with 62 yards receiving.

    BB&N 35, Milton Academy 14

    Qur'an McNeill ran for a TD and threw one to Kash Kelly for the Mustangs (1-1).

    Westwood 32, Quincy 13

    Leo Steinberg returned a fumble for a score for the Presidents (1-2).

    Nobles 21, Thayer Academy 7

    The Tigers drop to 0-2.

    OFF: Abington (2-1), Carver (3-0), Hanover (2-1), Holbrook/Avon (0-2), North Quincy (2-1), Norwell (2-1), Plymouth South (2-1), Scituate (3-0), Silver Lake (2-1), Whitman-Hanson (1-2)
