Singer Maggie Rogers said during her concert in Boston last night that she had been thinking about "how precious life is" after finding out about Liam Payne's death.

"We're just about the same age and anytime a public figure — especially a musical peer — slips off, it's really prescient," Rogers said.

Rogers said she was "sending a bunch of love" to One Direction's members before performing one of the group's popular songs.

"(I) wanted to just honor anyone who has been touched by that music or those songs," Rogers said.

The 30-year-old sang a cover of One Direction's 2014 song "Night Changes." The song's lyrics discuss passing time and nostalgia.

After the concert, Rogers said on her Instagram that the show was "emotional" for her because she studied TD Garden while attending graduate school at Harvard University.
