High School football makes its grand return across Southeastern Massachusetts.

Teams from across the region east of 495 get set to hit the practice fields on Friday.

According to National Weather Service meteorologist Frank Nocera of the Boston/Norton office, it should be a picture-perfect day on tap to start the preseason for area local teams.

"Friday is looking good," Nocera said. "The mornings should be dry with temperatures in the 65 to 70 range and peaking in the mid-80s by the afternoon. It is kind of like an average summer day.

"It should be dry weather and seasonable humid for this time of year in August with winds around five miles per hour."

RealFeel like temperatures will reach the mid-90s in the afternoon.

Some teams will either start in the morning while other teams will have afternoon workouts. The official start to the high school football season begins on Sept. 6 and with some teams starting as early as Thursday.

Nocera also noted that anyone attending Thursday's New England Patriots preseason football game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro will be treated to some nice weather. Temperature at kickoff time should be dry at 75 degrees and at game's end 73 degrees.
