ST. PAUL, MN - This year's webinar series on sales and use tax will be offered by the Minnesota Department of Revenue in September and October. The following section has a complete list of the topics covered.
1) Introduction to Sales and Use Tax Wednesday, September 15, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.This course introduces Minnesota sales and uses taxes. Basic sales and use tax knowledge is provided throughout the course, in addition to the Department of Revenue's industry-specific webinars. 2) Sales and Use Tax for Retailers Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.This course addresses Minnesota Sales and Use Tax laws for Minnesota retailers. It also describes how sales tax applies to goods sold to Minnesota customers, whether the business is located in Minnesota or not. The main goal is to help participants understand what items are free from sales tax and chargeable. 3) Sales and Use Tax for Taxable Service Providers Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.This course explains how Minnesota Sales and Use Tax laws influence these taxable service providers.

The main goal is to determine which services are taxed and which are not. Participants will also learn which items are exempt from sales tax and which are chargeable. 4) Sales and Use Tax for Manufacturers Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.This course is for Minnesota firms that create products for retail sales. It explains what items are free from sales tax and which are chargeable. This course is not intended to teach sales and use Tax. Visit the Department of Revenue's website to get a list of available classes and register online by selecting the desired class and location. These classes are offered free of charge and are open to the public. After completing the classes, you may be eligible to earn up to 4.0 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits in the discipline of Taxes – Technical. All classes are on a fundamental level. Department of Revenue's in-person classes is delivered via Group Live, while the webinars are delivered via Group Internet.
