Minnesota farmers can apply for funds to improve livestock operations before November 17, 2021

ST. PAUL, MN - The Minnesota Department of Agriculture, or MDA, plans to award up to $1.3 million in grants through a competitive review process to assist Minnesota livestock farmers and ranchers in improving their livestock operations. Interested farmers are invited to apply for the Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation, or AGRI, Livestock Investment Grant program.

Two rounds of funding will be made available. Applicants that are interested in applying should do so during the Fall 2021 round. MDA will release a second RFP for any residual money in the winter/spring of 2022.

Livestock Investment Grants from the AGRI Program promote long-term industry development in Minnesota's $7 billion livestock business by investing in facilities, infrastructure, and equipment. The funds are funded by the AGRI Program, which aims to enhance Minnesota's agricultural and renewable energy businesses.

Applicants are eligible to submit applications for up to 10% of the total cost of their project. Grants can range from $400 to $25,000 in value. This funding program offers a lifetime limit of $50,000 to each livestock farm. To be eligible for this grant's reimbursement, you must be billed and paid for all project materials and services after January 1, 2022.

To be considered, your idea must be received by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. MDA strongly advises applicants to utilize the online application.

The AGRI Livestock Investment Grant promotes long-term industry development for Minnesota livestock farmers and ranchers by assisting them in improving, updating, and modernizing livestock operation infrastructure and equipment.
