Missouri road rage suspect nabbed in Paulding County

ANTWERP — A Mississippi man was arrested Thursday afternoon in Paulding County as a suspect in a road rage shooting incident that occurred in Missouri.

Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers issued a press release Thursday evening stating that at 4:08 p.m. Thursday officials with the Allen County, Ind. Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police stopped a semi on U.S. 24 just east of the Ohio/Indiana line. The release stated that authorities apparently were assisting law enforcement from Jasper County Missouri in tracking the semi driven by an alleged suspect in a road rage incident.

Once deputies from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Ohio Highway Patrol arrived at the traffic stop, Indiana law enforcement already had 37-year-old Jeremiah Jerome Nix from Greenville, Miss., detained. Communication continued with authorities from Missouri.

An arrest warrant was sent to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office for the arrest of Nix on charges of unlawful use of a weapon-shooting from a motor vehicle at a person and assault. Landers said he doesn’t believe anyone was injured in the shooting incident.

Nix was booked into the Paulding County Jail Thursday on the criminal charges from Missouri.

Landers said Friday morning that Nix waived extradition and was awaiting to be picked up by Missouri authorities.
