Los Angeles-Based Ono Hawaiian BBQ Opening First San Diego County Location
Los Angeles-based restaurant chain Ono Hawaiian BBQ, which has more than 70 branches, will soon open its first San Diego location. Brothers Joshua and Joe Liang opened the first Ono Hawaiian BBQ in 2002 at Santa Monica Boulevard and Bundy Drive in Los Angeles, and the company now has more than 70 locations dotted around California and Arizona. The founders were inspired by the diverse culinary traditions of Hawaii, which blend influences from Polynesia, Japan, Korea, and the United States, and hoped to introduce the cuisine to a broader audience.
Escondido family makes a film: “Don’t Get Eaten”
As a movie critic, I see all the films the studios release each week. Sometimes I’ll see gems at festivals that never see the light of day. When I heard about a couple who live in Escondido and wrote, starred, directed, and produced their own movie about a zombie attack…I rolled my eyes. But my wife loves zombies, so I checked it out. And we both loved it. This family is adorable (their three nieces are in it too, and cute as buttons). The movie is called “Don’t Get Eaten.”

However, it wasn’t until last November that she discovered Gigi’s hidden talent: performing the Electric Slide. What began as a joke quickly showcased Gigi’s impressive dance skills.

Chefs covet Thompson’s Berkshire pigs for their abundance of flavor, rich marbling, and accommodating texture. They lead lives free of cages, fed an all-organic diet without any GMOs, corn, or soy—basically, they’re the Kobe beef of the pork world.
