Body of missing boater recovered from Waccamaw River identified

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Crews on Saturday night pulled a body from the Waccamaw River near Pawleys Island, authorities said.

Georgetown County Coroner Chase Ridgeway on Sunday said Paul Adkins, 59, of Pawleys Island, was identified. An autopsy is pending to confirm his cause of death.

A multi-agency search including units from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, Horry County Dive Team, U.S. Coast Guard, Midway Fire Rescue and state Department of Natural Resources were involved in the operation.
