The next Karen Read trial is now set to begin in late January 2025. Update: Judge Beverly Cannone set three key dates for Karen Read’s retrial during a brief hearing Monday. Read’s second trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 27, 2025, with a final pre-trial conference slated for Jan. 14 at 2 p.m.

Erica Johnson is appointed adjunct instructor of organ for the Master of Sacred Music program of Boston University School of Theology, Boston, Massachusetts. A church musician and performer, she has taught at Wellesley College, Wellesley, Massachusetts, since 2019. Troop 382 Builds New Footbridge for Westborough’s Sandra Pond
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Boy Scout Troop 382 has helped the Westborough Department of Public Works and Conservation Land Trust build a new footbridge over the Sandra Pond spillway. A spokesman for the Land Trust’s Stewardship Committee tells the Community Advocates the 24-foot-long footbridge is a great example of community collaboration. Officials say the goal is to keep hikers and fishermen from crossing the spillway and causing more damage to it. The DPW is next planning to build a path on both sides of the bridge.

Milford Offers Free Disposal of Old Trash Containers at Transfer Station
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – So now that Milford has moved to a new trash and recycling system, what are you supposed to do with the old containers? The Town says residents who are on the new trash and recycling program can now bring the old barrels to the Transfer Station to dispose of at no charge. They can only be brought to the Transfer Station during normal working hours but there is no charge and you don’t need a sticker. The Transfer Station is open Thursday and Sunday 10am-4pm and Friday and Saturday 8am-4pm.
New Swim School Opening in Milford at DoubleTree Hilton

The British Swim School is a franchised swimming and water survival skill school with more than 300 locations around the US and Canada. A Shrewsbury couple will run the Milford school from the pool at the DoubleTree Hilton-Milford. The Worcester Business Journal reports it’s a true family affair, with their daughter serving as aquatics manager and their son operations manager. You can take lessons in Milford on Monday through Thursday afternoons from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Milford High Students Write Song to Support Mental Health
By MyFM’s Claire Beverly – Some Milford High School students are hoping to use the power of music to help those struggling with mental health issues. The students took part in a project from the National Museum of Mental Health and together wrote a song called “What Makes You Well?” Patch reports the four-minute song was written and recorded at Milford High during the late spring Community Songwriting program and it was done in a collaboration between students, teachers, admin, and the district’s Director of Social Emotional Learning.
