Project Construction affecting 15th Street, Margaret Avenue, and Thomas Lane starting July 29
We are writing to inform you about an upcoming construction project that will impact the area around 15th Street, Margaret Avenue, and Thomas Lane. The City of Coeur d’Alene has selected Alpine Northwest to install a new 16-inch transmission main along 15th Street from Margaret Avenue to Thomas Lane, continuing east outside the City limits to a proposed new 1-million-gallon water reservoir. This process will include the excavation of asphalt & material to install the new water line while utilizing heavy equipment. Dust mitigation will be consistently monitored and knockdown as needed. Materials will be laid out throughout the project as it moves forward.

Oregon Wildfires: Over 700,000 Acres Ablaze and Interstate 84 Shut Down
Firefighters in the Pacific Northwest worked hard on Tuesday to control two fires threatening small towns in Oregon. One key stretch of Interstate 84, connecting Oregon and Idaho, was closed for about 130 miles (210 kilometers) between Ontario and Baker City due to advancing flames. This crucial freeway will remain closed for at least a day, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Update from ODOT as of 7:17am- I-84 is now open in eastern Oregon. The Durkee Fire forced another closure late last night. Travelers should be prepared for more I-84 closures as this fire remains active. Travelers who need to move east or west through central and eastern Oregon should use U.S. 20. If you plan to travel across Oregon in the coming days, make sure you carefully plan your route by using TripCheck.com. Other eastern Oregon highways may be closed or impacted as well.

Idaho court dismisses spine practice's antitrust lawsuit against health system
A 2023 lawsuit filed by Boise, Idaho-based Neuroscience Associates alleging antitrust violations by St. Luke's Health System has been dismissed. The practice's lawsuit honed in on St. Luke's "24/7/365 call coverage", which requires independent neurosurgeons to do on-call shifts as part of maintaining staff privileges, according to the July 16 order from the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho. The health system paid neurosurgeons for their on-call coverage until April 2018, and at the time two Neuroscience Associates surgeons relinquished their privileges.
