House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., lauded President Joe Biden’s accomplishments in office, from lowering prescription drug prices to passing the infrastructure and climate bill and expanding the child tax credit.

“The list goes on and on, but people don’t know as much about it as they should,” Pelosi said in an interview with PBS News on Night 2 of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. “This president has a vision, he has values, he has knowledge of the issues, he has empathy in his heart.”

Pelosi denied reports that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was her personal pick to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, but spoke positively of him and the 12 years they served together in Congress.

“He turned a very red district blue,” she said. “The members love him. They respect him. He’s so fabulous, they were organizing for him within minutes of his being named.”

Speaking with PBS News special correspondent and former anchor Judy Woodruff, Pelosi also reflected on Harris’ rise from California district attorney to vice president of the United States.

“This is not about electing a woman president. This is about electing the best, strongest person and I know her very well. I know her personally as a person of of deep faith, who cares about the community and demonstrated that all the time. I know her officially as a person very strong in her knowledge,” Pelosi said.

“What does leadership require? Vision, knowledge, judgement, strategic thinking and a heart full of empathy for the people. Joe Biden has that, she has that, that’s what they have in common,” she added.
