East Fayetteville restricts water usage to prevent shortage
The city of Fayetteville’s water and sewage division recently announced new water-use restrictions in certain parts of the city as an attempt to combat potential shortages from now until September. Assistant operations manager for Fayetteville water and sewage Aaron Watkins said these restrictions come in response to the rapid growth of the area.
Arkansas Air Museum to offer flights on historic WWII plane
A unique opportunity to experience a bit of history is coming up in Fayetteville next month. The Arkansas Air Museum will offer locals a chance to tour, and even a brief flight, in the historic C-47A Skytrain troop carrier “That’s All Brother’ that carried 101st Airborne Division paratroopers into France at the start of the D-Day invasion in 1944 at a special event coming up Aug. 3-4.

Little Rock, Arkansas – The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has been honored as a 2024-2025 Best Hospital by U.S. News & World Report. In the latest annual Best Hospitals edition, UAMS was recognized as the Best Hospital in the Little Rock metropolitan area, sharing the distinction with Baptist Health Medical Center.
‘Broken Trail’ Movie Being Filmed in Arkansas
According to several sources, an independent Western film, “Broken Trail,” is being filmed in Van Buren. “Broken Trail” is directed by Johnny Remo and produced by Skipstone Pictures. Reminiscent of the Wild West, the movie is set on the backdrop of the Arkansas River Valley, with freshly laid dirt coating the streets of Van Buren’s downtown.
Life of Fitz: Travis Geopfert in Fayetteville, Arkansas
Travis Geopfert was named K-State's seventh full-time Director of Track and Field/Cross Country by Director of Athletics Gene Taylor on July 11, 2024. Geopfert was a four-time National Assistant Coach of the Year during two stints at Arkansas across 12 years, with 22 total years of experience also at Tennessee, Northern Iowa and Central Missouri. At Arkansas with the men's team, he was a part of two NCAA Championship teams (2013 indoor and 2023 indoor), 21 top-10 NCAA team finishes and 25 SEC Championships. Geopfert has coached 15 Olympians, including eight who have advanced to this summer's Paris Games. Geopfert was born on August 20, 1978, in Panora, Iowa. He is married to Nicole and they have three children — sons Jones and Jax, and daughter Ellyn.
