SCLSNJ’s Peapack and Gladstone Branch to Temporarily Close for Renovations

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ - The Somerset County Library System of New Jersey’s (SCLSNJ) Peapack and Gladstone branch will be temporarily closing for renovation beginning 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Updates about the renovation will be shared as the project progresses.

"While we'll miss connecting with our community in the short term, we are eagerly awaiting the moment we can welcome everyone back to a beautifully refreshed space in just a few months,” said Nicole C. Pascoe, branch manager. “In the meantime, we are actively working to schedule programs in various other community spaces starting this September. We are immensely grateful to collaborate with such dedicated community partners who are making this exciting project possible. We're thankful for your continued support and understanding during this period."

Holds pickup will be available for SCLSNJ customers at other SCLSNJ branch locations as well as at the Clarence Dillon Library located at 2336 Lamington Road in Bedminster. If you require assistance altering your holds pickup location, email ask@sclibnj.org .

Continued Pascoe, “Our friends at the Clarence Dillon Library really came through for us by offering to allow SCLSNJ Library customers to pick up their holds at their beautiful facility.”

While the Peapack and Gladstone branch will be temporarily closed for several months, customers can utilize SCLSNJ’s other branches as well as access the Library System’s robust digital collections and online research resources , which are open 24 / 7 / 365.

"It's always hard to close a library, but we know the updates will be well worth the wait,” said Lynn Hoffman, deputy director. “We are so excited that the Friends of the Peapack-Gladstone Library and the Borough of Peapack-Gladstone are making this renovation possible."

In order to further enhance the Library space, The Friends of the Peapack-Gladstone Library are fundraising to purchase modern furniture and fixtures for the branch.

“While the renovated library will have updated construction elements, the current budget relies on continued use of decades-old furniture and fixtures," said Carol Lane, Friends president. "Please consider donating to The Friends of the Peapack-Gladstone Library to help acquire new, flexible, and functional items such as patron tables and chairs, soft seating, mobile and fixed shelving, a service desk, task lighting, and more. We aim to create a welcoming up-to-date space that our community of patrons and staff truly deserves.”
