Louisiana Anticipating Rare August ‘Cool Front’
As we attempt to survive the summer days in the Deep South, we may soon have more relief on the way. A few days ago we were blessed with lower humidity levels for a few days and mornings as a Canadian "cool front" pushed south, and another front could reach much of Louisiana by the middle part of the week of August 19, 2024.

COUSHATTA, La. - CHRISTUS Health is opening a new children’s clinic at CHRISTUS Coushatta Health Care Center to serve local patients and those in surrounding communities. A blessing, dedication and grand opening for the new CHRISTUS Kids Clinic – Coushatta is Friday at 10 a.m. at 1633 Marvel St., in Coushatta. The clinic is funded by CHRISTUS Foundation Shreveport-Bossier with community donations made to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH).

Driver of 18-wheeler killed when fellow driver accidentally backs over him
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - An 18-wheeler driver was killed in an accident Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 14). The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office says Isaac Zamudio Valadez, 41, of McAllen, Texas, was helping a fellow driver disconnect a trailer from the cab of the truck when the other driver backed the rig over Valadez. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating Akoya Wiley, 17. OPSO says Wiley is 5′4′' tall and weighs 160 lbs. She has dark brown braided hair with red coloring and a nose piercing. Wiley was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops.

NEW ORLEANS — We have a very weak cold front that will be moving through southeast Louisiana today. It will bring us some very slightly cooler temperatures, but also some drier air, especially for people on the North Shore. Dew points will likely be in the upper 60s on the North Shore Tuesday and Wednesday and low 70s elsewhere. It will still be hot, with high temperatures in the low to mid-90s, but it will feel just a bit more comfortable, and a heat advisory is not likely to be issued for the rest of this week.

Dallas man pleads guilty to fleeing through East Texas from Louisiana in stolen car
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A Dallas man pleaded guilty Monday to a charge related to a high-speed pursuit through East Texas last October. Christopher Powell, 19, was arrested in Smith County on Oct. 16, 2023, after a stolen Camaro fled from Louisiana through East Texas. On Monday, Powell pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a criminal instrument in Judge Kerry L. Russell’s Court.
