Winning a big lottery prize can be an emotional and memorable experience — just ask one North Carolina woman whose recent $1 million lottery win cause her to run around the convenience store "hollering."

Jo Jones , of Pembroke, recently stopped by the Kwik Stop on U.S. 74 in Rowland where she picked up a $10 Million Spectacular ticket to try her luck in the game, a move that proved to be extra fruitful for the Robeson County woman when she saw she won one of the game's $1 million prizes, according to a release from the NC Education Lottery .

"I started hollering and running through the store. I ran to the front and said, 'Y'all I won $1 million,'" Jones recalled, laughing. She added, "It's like a dream. This still just feels unreal."

Jones claimed her prize at lottery headquarters on Tuesday (May 29) where she had the choice of receiving her winnings as either an annuity of $50,000 over the course of 20 years or as a one time, lump sum payment of $600,000. She ultimately chose the latter, taking home an impressive $429,014 after all required state and federal tax withholdings. According to lottery officials, the grandmother of 13 plans to use her new prize to help her family.

"I always said if I ever win the lottery I'm going to help my children," she said. "I'll help them in any way I can."
