Air quality alert affecting Umatilla County Sunday
An air quality alert was issued in effect until Sunday at 3 p.m. for Umatilla County. According to the National Weather Service, "Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Quality Advisory IN EFFECT UNTIL midnight TONIGHT. A Smoke Air Quality Advisory has been issued. Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecasted conditions will cause air quality to reach unhealthy levels. Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes runny nose aggravate heart and lung diseases and aggravate other serious health problems. Limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung condition."

Federal officials allow Oregon to offer Medicaid services to those behind bars
Federal officials have approved Oregon’s request to offer free Medicaid services for addiction and some other services to people who are on the verge of being released from jail or prison, something that’s prohibited by federal law.
