PENFIELD, N.Y. (WROC) – Penfield Central School District has named a new Superintendent – Dr. Tasha Potter.
This follows shortly after the announcement Dr. Thomas Putnam would step down to take a leadership role with Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES as Superintendent.
Penfield Superintendent Dr. Thomas Putnam moving to Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Potter has served as Penfield CSD’s Assistant Superintendent for Equity and Access for the last three years. She also served as the Director of Diversity and Equity Planning for Monroe One BOCES, and as Principal and Assistant Principal in the Greece Central School District.
Potter’s appointment as superintendent could be made as early as Thursday, pending approval from the Board of Education.
“We understand the importance of this process and want to assure the community that the Board spent significant time consulting with educational leaders and the school district’s attorney regarding our options for hiring a new superintendent. While we considered both an external search and an interim hiring, we ultimately decided to hire internally for the permanent position,” said Dr. Emily Roberts, Penfield BOE president.
Potter holds her doctorate in executive leadership from St. John Fisher University, her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport, and her master’s degree in liberal studies and bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY Brockport.
“The Penfield Central School District has a strong educational foundation that I look
forward to continuing to strengthen. Together, we will provide learning environments
that prioritize excellence, rigorous instruction, high expectations, and success for all
students,” Potter said.
Putnam’s resignation as superintendent will take effect August 31. Potter will begin her new position September 1, pending approval from the Board during its July 18 meeting.
