GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - A major doctor shortage in the Carolinas is impacting patient health. Many are waiting several months or a year to get an appointment. According to data from the Association of American Medical Colleges, the doctor shortage is about twice as bad in the Carolinas and Georiga compared to some northern states. The Carolinas has around 200 active physicians per 100,000 residents. Massachusetts, Maryland, and New York have about 400 active physicians per 100,000 residents. Patients say this is taking a serious toll on their health.

A Flag Pond woman and her adult son have been charged with stealing more than $80,000 worth of precious metal from a couple that she was hired to help as a caretaker.
