RAPID CITY — They’re back. Scammers are again calling people trying to steal money, alleging you missed jury duty or had an outstanding warrant. Sometimes the thieves make up a supervisor name. Sometimes they use the name of the sheriff or other person working at the office. The calls falsely appear to originate from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. As is typical, the scammers ask for gift cards to pay civil fines or judgements over the phone.
