Pennsdale, Pa. — Who doesn't love cats? Especially when cats do funny things.

The public will have the opportunity to see plenty of cats when the Cat Video Fest comes to the District Cinema at Lycoming Valley this weekend. Show time is 12:30 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4 at the theater, which is located in Pennsdale at the District at Lycoming Valley (formerly Lycoming Mall). A portion of the proceeds will benefit cats in need.

"Everybody likes to watch cat videos, and it helps raise money for the shelters," said Jordan Musheno, general manager of District Cinema at Lycoming Valley.

The 75-minute film is a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and source animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses, according to the Cats Video Fest website . The videos are being shown this summer at theaters across the country and is distributed by Oscilloscope movie distribution company.

"It's the first time it's playing locally," Musheno said. "I believe they've raised more than $150,000 for animal shelters since this started in 2019," Musheno added.

To help local shelters, the District Cinema at Lycoming Valley is partnering with the Lycoming County SPCA and Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS) to share a portion of the proceeds. The theater also recently added a third animal rescue, Heidi's Furry Friends Furry Friends Rescue, Inc. Representatives from the animal charities will be on hand during the event this weekend.

Alyssa Correll, executive director of the Lycoming County SPCA, said several of their volunteers will be at the theater this weekend along with adoptable cats."We're looking forward to it. I think a lot of people enjoy cat videos," Correll said. "It's exciting to be a part of the mall area revival," she added.

Tickets are available at the door or online at thedistrict.dipsontheatres.com.
