Enviri reaches sustainability goals across company divisions, new ESG report shows

Company divisions of publicly traded Enviri Corp. recycled or reused a total of 19 million tons of waste last year, according to the Philadelphia-based company’s 2023 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report.

“Enviri reimagines how some of the world’s most challenging waste can be remediated, recycled, and reused, and our work leads us towards a better future for our people and planet,” said Enviri Chairman and CEO Nick Grasberger.

Enviri, which provides environmental solutions for industrial and specialty waste streams, released its fifth annual ESG report on July 25, outlining its ambitions, goals, and impact metrics across four focus areas: Innovative Solutions, Thriving Environment, Safe Workplaces, and Inspired People.

“I’m pleased to share our 2023 ESG Report, showcasing the goals and progress of our comprehensive sustainability strategy to develop and deliver environmental solutions,” Grasberger said.

Other key highlights of the report are that 87 percent of Enviri’s revenue came from its two environmental solutions divisions, Clean Earth and Harsco Environmental. The future goal is for 90 percent of Enviri’s revenue to come from these divisions, the report says.

Specifically, the company’s 2023 ESG report notes that Harsco Environmental recycled or reused 93 percent of processed steel slag (8.7 million tons), while Clean Earth recycled or reused 91 percent of processed waste materials (3.9 million tons).

Enviri’s 2023 ESG report was informed by leading sustainability reporting standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, according to the company.
