Tucked away in the heart of Chinatown, Heng Feng Hand Drawn Noodles is a small gem that offers a decent menu with a variety of options. The star of the show is undoubtedly their hand-drawn noodles, which are spectacular and fresh tasting. They also offer a good selection of Pho inspired noodle dishes.
The pan-fried bun, while not entirely authentic to Shanghai, is quite similar to the one in Xi'an and is absolutely delicious. The crab roe xiaolongbao and the lion's head are also recommended, though the latter can be a bit on the salty side. The hot and sour soup is a must-try, and adding a bit of vinegar makes it taste even better. The chive fried noodles are also a standout.
The service is friendly and the owner is very caring, which adds to the overall dining experience. The only minor hiccup was with the hot tea, which was served at room temperature. But don't let that deter you from visiting this place. The food is pretty good, with fresh vegetables and a unique texture to the noodles. The scallion pancake is one of the best I've ever had, served up fresh and hot.
