PITTSTON TWP. – In recognizing National Pennsylvania Day, July 20, America250PA, organized volunteers to aid the CEO Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank Distribution Center on Friday, July 19, for the fourth year in a row.

In support of Feeding Pennsylvania, presented by The Giant Company and Natural Food Group, America250PA assisted food banks across the Commonwealth.

Employees from Keystone Automotive and members of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), along with America250PA’s Ambassador Lizzie Breznay participated in the 1 to 4 p.m. shift packaging food items.

According to Debbie Taylor of CEO, 12 to 15 times a month, volunteers from many organizations and businesses volunteer their time to package food to be distributed to Luzerne, Lackawanna and Wyoming Counties’ 400 partner agencies feeding thousands including 2,300 senior centers

DAR member Diane Cook, who has volunteered at the food bank over the years, took part in the afternoon shift.

“I love helping out and helping our communities, a lot of people need it,” Cook said. “I love this and our DAR, we love helping the communities as much as possible.”

Taylor said she has her volunteer schedule set up until September.

“From time to time there might be a particular incident where we have to get stuff out quickly, so I’ll put out a notice on our online platform or send out emails,” Taylor added.

If you or your business or organization would like to volunteer at the food bank, go to https://bit.ly/3y6IHra to sign up.

America250PA also supported Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful on July 20.

America250PA and EQT Corporation, in partnership with the PennDOT, awarded $19,500 in grant funds to support eight projects that aim to improve communities and engage volunteers.

In total, volunteers will be present at 29 sites across the Commonwealth.
