    Pennsylvania top in U.S. for political ad spending

    Pennsylvania leads states in political ad spending this election year at more than $507 million as of Monday, per data collected by AdImpact .

    Why it matters: Pennsylvania could be ground zero in the battle for the White House and the Senate.


    The big picture: Political spending in Pennsylvania and across the U.S. is expected to accelerate as the Nov. 5 election draws closer and now that President Biden has dropped out of the race.

    By the numbers: Democrats were outspending Republicans in the Keystone State by $43 million as of Friday, per AdImpact.

    • MAGA Inc. is the top spender in Pennsylvania so far, at $62 million.
    • That's followed by pro-Democrat super PAC WinSenate ($49 million).

    Zoom in: The most expensive race in the state is between U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and Republican Dave McCormick at nearly $193 million.

    • That's followed by the presidential race at nearly $189.5 million.

    Zoom out: Trailing Pennsylvania in political spending is Ohio (nearly $440 million) and California (about $290 million), per AdImpact.
