MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A technical problem with Microsoft 365 due to a CrowdStrike glitch has caused many businesses including banks, airlines, television networks, and health systems to experience outages, CBS News reported. Many law enforcement agencies nationwide also have been affected.

    • USA Health reported being affected but said the only issue is that doctors and nurses must type notes instead of speaking to type, News 5 has learned.
    • News 5 left messages with Mobile Infirmary, North Baldwin Infirmary, and Thomas Hospital, and is waiting to hear back. We contacted South Baldwin Regional Medical, but they would not provide News 5 information.

    Banks :

    • News 5 contacted Wells Fargo Bank and Regions Bank, and representatives from both banks said there have been no issues. Each noted that an internal message would be sent for errors if there were any. We’ve also left a message with PNC Bank.

    Florida Outages

Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola has released this statement: “Ascension Sacred Heart does not use CrowdStrike for systems that we own and manage, however, some third parties we work with do.

“For those third-party systems that have been impacted, we are utilizing our normal downtime procedures as appropriate until they are brought back online.

“We have been told that CrowdStrike has corrected errors with the Microsoft update, and we are hopeful the issue will be resolved quickly.”

No issues have been reported at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office or the Pensacola Police Department.

However, the Escambia County Tax Collector said in a Facebook post that services are being impacted by the global outage.

“Our queuing system, driver license system, and registration system are affected,” the post said. “We will update this page when systems have returned to normal operation.”

In addition, here’s what Escambia County Public Safety said: “Public Safety temporarily lost access to their computers and had to log information via paper until our computers were rebooted. 911 remained online and ECFR and EMS were still able to run calls.”

We also heard from Baptist Health Care: “We are currently exercising normal downtime procedures, and systems are expected to be fully operational later today,” a spokesperson said. “There are no interruptions in the delivery of patient care.”

HCA Florida West Hospital provided WKRG News 5 the following statement regarding the outage: “Our health system has not been directly impacted by CrowdStrike’s technology issue and we are working with our vendors to understand any issues they may be facing. We do not expect the incident to impact our ability to provide care to our patients.”

Escambia County shared on Facebook that the Perdido Landfill is having to process customers with manual tickets due to the outage.

The George County Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook that their internet and phones are down now. However, WKRG News 5 confirmed that the outage was not related to the Microsoft technical issues and was instead caused by a storm that went through the area around 5 p.m. yesterday.
