On Aug. 1, 1949, Waterfront Rescue Mission’s founder, the Rev. Vernon Hozey, opened the doors to the Gulf Coast's homeless and addicted. Since then, the organization has provided over 2.3 million nights of shelter in Pensacola and Mobile, Alabama.

This marks a momentous year for Waterfront Rescue Mission as they commemorate 75 years of delivering hope and healing to the community from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at First Baptist Church of Pensacola, 500 N. Palafox St. Though time has passed, the everlasting message of hope has remained at the forefront of their work.

The organization thanks everyone for their support, whether through volunteering, donations, or prayer, as they commemorate the past 75 years and embrace the promise of the future.
