Just in time to beat the summer heat, Italian ice shop planned for West Nine Mile

Pensacola residents will have a new sweet spot to beat the summer heat with the addition of Jeremiah’s Italian Ice to West Nine Mile Road in the near future.

Jeremiah’s will open its new location once construction of its building is finished within the West Nine Mile Towncenter on a parcel spanning approximately 3.81 acres.

Jeremiah's will be a tenant in the building, which is under construction as part of the second phase in an approved development project named Shoppes at Stefani.

Here’s what to know about the incoming Jeremiah’s Italian Ice location.

What is Jeremiah’s Italian Ice?

Jeremiah’s blends refreshing Italian ice with creamy frozen custard into one layered treat, or even separate if that’s how you prefer.

Flavor combinations almost endless, with over 40 rotating flavors of Italian ice to blend with a vanilla, chocolate or swirl custard.

If you can’t seem to make up your mind, there are free samples daily that help make the choice a little easier.

And yes, you can try each and every one.

Jeremiah’s has stores open for business in more than 10 states including Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana.

The sweets chain has over 70 locations up-and-running across Florida, and officials still plan to add more.

Jeremiah's already has multiple stores open across Northwest Florida, including in Navarre , Niceville and a handful of Tallahassee locations.

Tom Kennedy, the franchisee for the chain’s Navarre location that opened up last year, is also behind this incoming Jeremiah’s on West Nine Mile Road.

Kennedy told the News Journal last year that his decision to take on the new business with his wife, Lisa, was built on love and decades of family memories as Jeremiah’s used to be a spot they would take their two daughters after University of Central Florida football games years ago.

Where is Jeremiah’s opening in Pensacola?

The first Jeremiah’s Italian Ice location in Pensacola will open at 1491 W. Nine Mile Road in an area where a variety of development projects are underway such as Wawa and Dutch Bros Coffee .

The development where the business will be located, phase two of the Shoppes of Stefani project, was approved in 2022 by Escambia County’s Development Review Committee (DRC) to construct a single, 7,980-square-foot building, according to the project’s development order.

The building is planned to house multiple commercial businesses. It is currently under construction and there is no information available yet about additional tenants aside from Jeremiah’s.

Phase one of the Shoppes at Stefani project was approved by the DRC in 2020 and included the construction of a new building spanning approximately 27,000 square feet, which hosts a number of different businesses today such as A Fistful of Dough.
