A new development proposal wants to create a 'family life center' off of Highway 29

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee is working to build a new worship facility in Cantonment.

The St. Jude Catholic Family Life Center project was filed with Escambia County this month and proposed the construction of an 8,300-square-feet facility with more than 200 seats for attendants and over 90 parking spaces between two parking lots, one of which will be on asphalt while the other will be on grass.

Developers plan to build the family life center using a 12.25-acre site of undeveloped land off of U.S. Highway 29. Site plans show that the proposed location of the facility is 1051 Pinoak Lane.

This project was reviewed by the county’s Development Review Committee on Wednesday after its plans were initially filed on Aug. 8.

The Catholic Churches are going to have to do a lot more of these types of things around the nation. Their numbers are dwindling. This is a great idea and I hope it can help spread the word of god.
