A new private Christian school is being proposed for Mobile Highway.

Life Shifting Learning Academy is planning to build its second school in Escambia County . It will serve approximately 50 students and will have no more than 12 students per class in order to provide “individual attention that supports each kid’s educational journey,” according to the project’s narrative form filed with the county.

The academy's first school is already up and running in West Pensacola off West Gadsden Street. The new location is proposed for construction at 4024 Mobile Highway.

The school will not have a cafeteria or kitchen set up and will cater food for the students instead. According to the project’s narrative form, students will eat their catered food inside of their classrooms during non-instructional time to help maintain a calmer and more focused learning environment.

There will also be no traditional playground on the school’s premises and instead students will visit local parks for recess, which will require parental approval.

Escambia County’s Development Review Committee is set to review the proposal during pre-application meetings on Wednesday. The project was filed with the county on Aug. 20.
