A local couple is working to create a new grab-and-go dining hub with four food truck options and a drive-thru coffee shop on the northwest corner of North Palafox Street and Hannah Street.

Crystal and Arley George are the owners of the project and told the News Journal that they want to create the “Running on Faith Lot” so that the property can better serve its immediate community by providing residents with more dining options such as hibachi.

The proposed site currently holds one existing building and a parking lot, which the owners plan to convert for their vision. If the project is approved, the existing building will be redeveloped for the coffee shop while the parking lot will hold the mobile vendor food trucks.

The food trucks will each rent a 20-by-30 lot that will also have seating options, including picnic tables, but there are no plans for a public restroom. They’ve been in discussions with some local food trucks for the lot and their plans are waiting on the project’s approval.

“I feel like it’ll be something good for people’s lunches too, where they can have a variety to eat,” Crystal said. “We don’t want them all to be the same, that was one of our things. We wanted to have a variety and (no one) with the same thing.”

Pensacola's favorite food truck is: Pensacola's favorite food truck has been determined. Here's who won.

That variety will likely include hibachi, chicken and waffles, barbecue as well as pastries and desserts, according to Crystal. She also told the News Journal that the coffee shop will likely be named Bean Redeemed Coffee Shop and operated by the family themselves.

This development proposal has not been approved by Escambia County’s Development Review Committee at this time, but the owners of the project are still working with them to iron out the plans. This proposal was filed with the county on Aug. 14.

while they're at it, change up the vendors in the food truck square downtown. Do pop ups there. The choices for food there are not good. brought my family there the other day and none of it looked appealing so we went somewhere else.
