    Pensacola-area HS roundup: Sept. 23-28 cross country, golf, volleyball, swimming results

    Here's a roundup of Pensacola-area high school sporting events for the week of Sept. 23-28.

    TUESDAY

    Boys Golf

    Escambia County Championships: Tate ran away with the nine-hole tournament at Osceola Municipal Golf Course with a team score of 150, led by a first-place finish from Baylor Touchstone.

    Touchstone, who technically tied with teammate Landon Ray, won on a "playoff" based on scores of certain holes. Both players shot a one-over par 37 on the day.

    Pensacola Catholic 146, Pace 148, Gulf Breeze 162: Both Hudson Mitchell and Wyatt Hart tied for low medalist honors as the Crusaders won the tri-match over three of the area's top teams at Pensacola Country Club.

    Mitchell and Hart shot a one-under par 35 for the nine-hole round.

    Girls Golf

    Pensacola Catholic 186, Pace 205, Northview 221: The Crusaders ran away with a tri-match victory at Marcus Pointe Golf Club.

    Anna Kunkel from Northview took medalist honors with a 40 on the day.

    Tate 195, Navarre 196, West Florida 204: An extremely close tri-match saw Tate come away with the win at Hidden Creek.

    West Florida's Abby Vernier was the medalist of the match with an even-par 36.

    Volleyball

    Booker T. Washington 3, Pensacola 1: The Wildcats have now won back-to-back games after defeating the Tigers.

    Booker T. won with set scores of 25-16, 25-15, 13-25 and 25-22. Individual stats have not been reported.

    Pensacola (9-5) is scheduled to go to Tate on Thursday. The Wildcats (6-10) host West Florida on Thursday.

    Central 3, Laurel Hill 0: The Jaguars picked up a sweep over the district foe Hoboes.

    Central won with set scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-22. Individual stats have not been reported yet.

    The Jaguars (7-6) host Milton on Thursday.

    Pace 3, Choctaw 0: The Patriots return to the win column with a sweep over the Indians.

    Pace won with set scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-22. Individual stats were not available.

    Pace (12-5) hosts West Florida on Wednesday.

    Pensacola Catholic 3, Tate 1: It's a streak for the Crusaders, who are winners of their last three.

    Pensacola Catholic won with set scores of 26-28, 25-16, 25-14 and 25-23. Individual stats have not been reported.

    Tate (5-7) hosts Pensacola on Thursday. Pensacola Catholic (9-10) goes to Fort Walton Beach on Monday.

    MONDAY

    Volleyball

    Tate 3, Escambia 0: The Aggies picked up a sweep over the Gators.

    Tate won with set scores of 25-10, 25-22 and 25-14. Individual stats were not provided.

    Escambia (4-9) goes to Pine Forest on Tuesday. Tate (5-6) travels to Pensacola Catholic on Tuesday.

    Fort Walton Beach 3, Milton 1: The Panthers fell in four sets at home to the Vikings.

    Fort Walton Beach won by set scores of 26-28, 25-13, 25-14 and 29-27.

    Ashley Cauley led Milton with four aces, with Addi Smith tacking on a pair. Mya Waitman had five kills with Cauley adding four. Harper Cooley posted a team-high 13 digs. Smith tallied eight digs. Emily Hope recorded 10 assists, with Lexi Hawthorne contributing six assists. McKenna Belden had four blocks, and Waitman tacked on two.

    "After battling for the win in the first game, FWB's serving and offense dominated the next two games," Milton coach Jan Cupp said. "Game 4, after several opportunities to win the game, FWB found a way to snatch (it) and the match."

    Milton (3-14) heads to Central on Thursday.

    Pensacola Catholic 3, Sneads 0: The Crusaders have now won back-to-back matches by sweep.

    Pensacola Catholic won with set scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-21. Individual stats were not reported.

    The Crusaders (8-10) host Tate on Tuesday.

    West Florida 3, Elberta (Ala.) 1: The Jaguars won the cross-border battle against Elberta.

    West Florida won with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-23 and 25-15. Individual stats were not reported.

    The Jaguars (8-8) go to Pace on Wednesday.

    Boys Golf

    Pace 154, Pensacola Catholic 160, Gulf Breeze 183, Milton 206: The Patriots, led by a 36 from Judah Talley, secured a quad-match victory at Stonebrook Golf Club.

    Pensacola Catholic's Hudson Mitchell led the field with a two-under par 34.
