    Person dead after Interstate 10 vehicle fire backs up westbound traffic to Escambia Bay Bridge

    Lanes on Interstate 10 in Escambia County were backed up after a vehicle was found on fire, according to the Florida Department of Transportation .

    FDOT says a vehicle fire, that began around 2:50 p.m. on I-10 heading eastbound near mile marker 14, has caused two lanes of traffic to back up to the Escambia County Bay Bridge.

    Florida Highway Patrol says a person was found inside the vehicle after Escambia County Fire Rescue put out the fire. Escambia EMS crews reported the driver deceased at 3:05 p.m.

    A witness stated the SUV was traveling westbound in the inside lane and veered to the right exited the roadway and collided head on with a large oak tree, then burst into flames.

    No identification of the driver has been made, per FHP.
